Uma das grandes atra\u00e7\u00f5es desta edi\u00e7\u00e3o do Desafio Raia R\u00e1pida \u00e9 Roland Schoeman. Nascido em Pret\u00f3ria no dia 3 de julho de 1980, ele nadou come\u00e7ou a nadar aos 13 anos e n\u00e3o parou mais. Aos 20 anos fez sua estreia ol\u00edmpica em Sydney-2000, seu primeiro grande evento internacional, e parou nas semifinais nos 50m e 100m livre. No ciclo ol\u00edmpico de Atenas ganhou suas primeiras medalhas de express\u00e3o como o bronze nos no Mundial de Fukuoka-2001 e o t\u00edtulo do Commonwealth Games de Manchester-2002 nos 50m livre.<\/p>\n

Seu \u00e1pice aconteceu nos Jogos Ol\u00edmpicos de Atenas-2004. Na competi\u00e7\u00e3o, o sul-africano subiu tr\u00eas vezes ao p\u00f3dio. Come\u00e7ou sua campanha integrando o surpreendente revezamento 4x100m livre do pa\u00eds que bateu os favoritos Estados Unidos, Holanda e Austr\u00e1lia. Dias depois foi prata nos 100m livre e bronze nos 50m livre. Na volta ao pa\u00eds foi recepcionado pelo ex-presidente Nelson Mandela e ganhou uma homenagem da Universidade de Pret\u00f3ria. No ano seguinte Schoeman venceu os 50m livre e 50m borboleta no Mundial de Montreal e repetiu o t\u00edtulo nos 50m borboleta em Melbourne-2007.<\/p>\n

Mesmo com a apari\u00e7\u00e3o de uma jovem gera\u00e7\u00e3o de velocistas como Cesar Cielo e Florent Manaudou, o sul-africano ainda conseguiu ter bons resultados como chegar as finais ol\u00edmpicas em Pequim-2008 e Londres-2012 e quando bateu os recordes mundiais nos 50m borboleta na piscina longa e nos 50m livre na curta, ambos em 2009.<\/p>\n

Aos 36 anos de idade o veterano disputar\u00e1 sua terceira edi\u00e7\u00e3o do Desafio Raia R\u00e1pida e mais uma vez \u00e9 o capit\u00e3o da \u00c1frica do Sul. Em 2014 ele foi vice-campe\u00e3o nos 50m livre perdendo a final para Anthony Ervin. No ano seguinte o velocista terminou em terceiro lugar nos 50m borboleta, prova que ele volta a nadar este ano e encara Henrique Martins, Tim Phillips e Daniele D\u2019Angelo. Se Schoeman n\u00e3o pode cair na piscina do Olympic Aquatic Stadium durante o Rio-2016, veio aos Jogos como t\u00e9cnico de George Bovell, desta vez ele dar\u00e1 suas bra\u00e7adas para quem sabe bater na frente e vencer pela primeira vez no Raia R\u00e1pida.<\/p>\n
