O experiente atleta de \u00e1guas abertas Luiz Lima provou que nadar do Leme ao Pontal era um desafio poss\u00edvel ao concluir o percurso de cerca de 35 km em 2008. Na \u00e9poca o desafio ousado foi tido como uma prova de supera\u00e7\u00e3o e um teste de limites. Sete anos depois foi a vez de Adherbal de Oliveira completar o mesmo percurso e revivendo um dos momentos mais marcantes das \u00e1guas abertas do Brasil. Por\u00e9m, a coisa ficou realmente s\u00e9ria este ano com as travessias de Paulo Amaral e Patr\u00edcia Farias. Era hora de organizar e oficializar a situa\u00e7\u00e3o. Dessa forma, nascia ai uma prova que chegou para ficar.<\/p>\n

Buscando\u00a0oficializar todas as travessias j\u00e1 realizadas e tamb\u00e9m tendo em mente incentivar novos atletas a buscarem concluir\u00a0esse desafio, foi fundada no dia 10 de junho de 2016 a Leme to Pontal Swimming Association (LPSA) com a fun\u00e7\u00e3o principal de promover e organizar as travessias individuais ou em revezamento entre os dois famosos pontos da cidade do Rio de Janeiro. Presidida por Renato Ribeiro, t\u00e9cnico da equipe Navegantes, e com Adherbal de Oliveira na fun\u00e7\u00e3o de secret\u00e1rio, a associa\u00e7\u00e3o tamb\u00e9m tem como fun\u00e7\u00f5es cuidar\u00a0da parte burocr\u00e1tica, providenciar as embarca\u00e7\u00f5es que acompanham os nadadores durante o percurso e\u00a0premiar todos que concluem o feito.<\/p>\n

A funda\u00e7\u00e3o da LPSA \u00e9 de grande import\u00e2ncia para tamb\u00e9m transformar a travessia em um evento internacional, j\u00e1 que provas famosos como o Canal da Mancha, por exemplo, funcionam desse jeito.\u00a0No in\u00edcio de outubro a associa\u00e7\u00e3o organizou uma homenagem na Praia de Copacabana para todos os nadadores que completaram a travessia e ratificou mais uma vez o compromisso em expandir a modalidade.\u00a0\u201cEspero fazer da LPSA uma grande associa\u00e7\u00e3o no Brasil e com reconhecimento internacional como as grandes associa\u00e7\u00f5es. Espero que essa modalidade de ultramaratona aqu\u00e1tica cres\u00e7a no Rio e no\u00a0pa\u00eds\u201d, afirmou no dia solenidade o presidente Renato Ribeiro.<\/p>\n

Ap\u00f3s as quatro travessias j\u00e1 realizadas existem outras tentativas j\u00e1 programadas at\u00e9 o fim do ano. \u00a0A pr\u00f3xima acontece neste fim de semana quando uma equipe de revezamento da LL Gladiadores buscar\u00e1 ser a primeira a concluir a prova no formato de revezamento. Ainda esta semana apresentaremos um breve perfil dessa equipe formada por\u00a0Humberto Sampaio (que ser\u00e1 o capit\u00e3o do time),\u00a0Jos\u00e9 Get\u00falio, Marcelo Nissenbaum, Georges Lezaun,\u00a0Pedro Alqu\u00e9res e\u00a0o pioneiro Luiz Lima.
