A competi\u00e7\u00e3o est\u00e1 com inscri\u00e7\u00f5es abertas (clique aqui para ver<\/a>) e nela s\u00e3o realizadas provas nos estreitos de Artem\u00edsio, na Gr\u00e9cia. A competi\u00e7\u00e3o inclui provas de 10 km, 3 km e 1,5 km todas em Pefki, no munic\u00edpio de Istiaia-Aidipsos, em Evia.<\/p>\n

O local do evento por si s\u00f3 j\u00e1 \u00e9 um atrativo e \u00e9 conhecido por ter sido palco da hist\u00f3rica batalha naval entre as for\u00e7as gregas e persas. O evento tem esse nome em homenagem aos primeiros nadadores de longa dist\u00e2ncia a serem registrados e tenta recriar os trajetos feitos por Skyllias e Hydna com percursos sobre os naufr\u00e1gios da hist\u00f3rica Batalha Naval Artemisium. O Authentic Marathon Swim representa o renascimento da aut\u00eantica rota de nata\u00e7\u00e3o em \u00e1guas abertas 2500 anos ap\u00f3s sua primeira realiza\u00e7\u00e3o.<\/p>\n

As fa\u00e7anhas hist\u00f3ricas de Skyllias e Hydna foram registradas por Her\u00f3doto, “O Pai da Hist\u00f3ria”, que os elogiou por sua capacidade \u00fanica de nadar e pela import\u00e2ncia das informa\u00e7\u00f5es que ofereceram aos gregos, permitindo que as For\u00e7as Navais se preparassem para suas pr\u00f3ximas aventuras. Her\u00f3doto afirmou que os dois nadadores nadaram aproximadamente 9 milhas n\u00e1uticas.<\/p>\n

O Authentic Marathon Swim tenta atrair a exposi\u00e7\u00e3o merecida para esse assunto, popularizando a riqueza cr\u00f4nica de Artem\u00edsio e da Gr\u00e9cia como um todo. O evento \u00e9 coorganizado pelo Munic\u00edpio de Istiaia-Edipsos e pela Active Media Group. No s\u00e1bado (05) ser\u00e1 o dia das provas de 3 km e 1,5 km.
