O brit\u00e2nico pretendia atravessar o\u00a0oceano de uma ponta a outra, partido de Dacar, no Senegal, at\u00e9 Natal, no Brasil, totalizando cerca de 3,6 mil km em quatro meses. Ap\u00f3s nadar 87 milhas (aproximadamente 140 km) Hooper decidiu abordar o sonho por problemas t\u00e9cnicos no barco de seguran\u00e7a que o acompanhava durante a travessia.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;Pela seguran\u00e7a de todos os que est\u00e3o a bordo do barco Big Blue decidimos adiar a expedi\u00e7\u00e3o e navegar diretamente em dire\u00e7\u00e3o ao Brasil. Tivemos cinco dias de fortes tempestades no Atl\u00e2ntico, e por causa disso nossa embarca\u00e7\u00e3o sofreu alguns danos&#8221;, disse o nadador que havia feito uma prepara\u00e7\u00e3o bastante intensa para cumprir a meta. Hooper chegou a treinar nas \u00e1guas do mar da Fl\u00f3rida e no Mar Mediterr\u00e2neo e vinha nadando em m\u00e9dia 12 horas por dia, al\u00e9m de seguir uma dieta rigorosa. Seu grande trunfo era o traje especial utilizado para a miss\u00e3o.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Hooper estava utilizando em sua jornada o Triwetsuit Sams Carbon, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.arenawaterinstinct.com\/en_global\/triathlon\/detail.php?id=23\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">traje especial desenvolvido pela Arena<\/a>, que \u00e9 feito\u00a0100% em nylon, com borracha de neoprene Yamamoto e tecnologia Sams (Shark Attack Mitigation System) que tem como principal fun\u00e7\u00e3o afastar tubar\u00f5es e outros predadores do caminho. Esta roupa especial ainda emitia pulsos de alta frequ\u00eancia e repelentes qu\u00edmicos na \u00e1gua e deixava o nadador tecnicamente &#8220;invis\u00edvel&#8221; para os peixes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ap\u00f3s desistir de continuar a nadar ele afirmou que n\u00e3o pretende esquecer do objetivo de se tornar o primeiro homem a cruzar oficialmente o Oceano Atl\u00e2ntico e tentar\u00e1 novamente encarar o desafio.
