Campe\u00e3 ol\u00edmpica dos 200m peito com recorde mundial nos Jogos de T\u00f3quio-2020, Tatjana Schoenmaker concedeu uma entrevista recentemente para a vers\u00e3o africana da revista Forbes<\/a> e afirmou que esta constantemente se motivando para\u00a0 novos desafios, al\u00e9m de contar alguns momentos do in\u00edcio de sua carreira na modalidade. A futura medalhista de ouro afirmou que ainda na inf\u00e2ncia n\u00e3o sonhava em ser campe\u00e3 na nata\u00e7\u00e3o e sim em outra modalidade: o netball.<\/p>\n

A modalidade, que \u00e9 popular na \u00c1frica do Sul e \u00e9 muito semelhante ao basquete e amplamente praticado por mulheres, era o sonho que Schoenmaker queria conquistar. Quando crian\u00e7a ela esperava seguir carreira neste esporte, mas que por insist\u00eancia de seus pais seguiu na nata\u00e7\u00e3o. E nada como o velho ditado de que voc\u00ea deve sempre ouvir seus pais.<\/p>\n

\u201cEu pratiquei muitos outros esportes na escola prim\u00e1ria. Gostava de h\u00f3quei, netball e atletismo. A nata\u00e7\u00e3o era algo que meus pais queriam que eu praticasse. Eles viram que eu tinha talento. Na verdade, no come\u00e7o eu n\u00e3o curtia. Mas quando me mudei para a Tuks Sport High School e passei mais tempo na piscina, comecei a melhorar. Foi quando percebi que era muito boa nisso”, comentou a atleta de 24 anos.<\/p>\n

A sul-africana reconhece o esfor\u00e7o dos pais que a identificaram como um talento para a modalidade. \u201cSou muito grata a eles (pais) por me tirarem da minha zona de conforto e pelo que eu achava que era melhor para mim. N\u00e3o gostava de ficar muito na piscina treinando e muitos jovens nadadores mostram um potencial incr\u00edvel na juventude, mas depois desaparecem porque o trabalho que voc\u00ea precisa fazer \u00e9 extenuante”, afirmou.<\/p>\n

Nesta entrevista ela contou ainda que um companheiro de sele\u00e7\u00e3o em T\u00f3quio foi uma grande inspira\u00e7\u00e3o para sua carreira. \u201cEm 2012 ainda estava na escola lembro de assistir Chad Le Clos derrotar Michael Phelps. Aquilo foi incr\u00edvel. Primeiro porque ele era um sul-africano. E segundo porque eu estava fazendo a mesma quantidade de treinamento que um profissional como ele fazia. Sabia que tamb\u00e9m poderia chegar l\u00e1”, acrescentou.<\/p>\n

Schoenmaker afirmou ainda que esta motivada para a temporada 2022 que promete muitos desafios como a disputa do Campeonato Mundial de Budapeste e o Jogos\u00a0 Commonwealth em Birmingham. “Quero competir de novo e quero tentar melhorar meu recorde. H\u00e1 muito espa\u00e7o para crescer. \u00c9 incr\u00edvel para mim que tudo ainda pare\u00e7a um sonho, n\u00e3o parece real, e estou muito animado para me desafiar.
