O americano de 24 anos atualmente det\u00e9m o recorde mundial da prova depois de quebrar seu pr\u00f3prio tempo nos Jogos de T\u00f3quio no ano passado. Segundo n\u00famero dos arquivos da FINA, Dressel vem constantemente dominando a prova nos \u00faltimos cinco anos.<\/p>\n<p>No Campeonato Mundial de Gwangju-2019, Dressel fez hist\u00f3ria e superou o antigo recorde de seu compatriota e \u00eddolo Michael Phelps na prova. A marca que vigorava h\u00e1 dez anos que era de 49s82 e por 32 cent\u00e9simos, Dressel estabeleceu o novo recorde na eliminat\u00f3ria: 49s50. No fim daquela sess\u00e3o ele ainda voltaria \u00e0 piscina para liderar a equipe americana no revezamento 4x100m livre misto a medalha de ouro.
