O evento serviu ainda para forma\u00e7\u00e3o do time brasileiro que ir\u00e1 a Budapeste nadar o Campeonato Mundial de Esportes Aqu\u00e1ticos em junho. O jovem de 24 anos fez, talvez, a melhor competi\u00e7\u00e3o de sua vida vencendo os 100m e 200m borboleta com suas melhores marcas pessoas e atingindo \u00edndice para o Mundial de Budapeste em ambas as provas. Nos 100 metros o atleta do SESI-SP teve uma volta fulminante superando seus advers\u00e1rios e marcando 51s60. O velocista do Pinheiros se garantiu em mais um Campeonato Mundial ao vencer os 100m livre em uma das provas mais acirradas de toda a competi\u00e7\u00e3o. Com o tempo de 48s64, Gabigol garantiu ainda uma vaga no sempre competitivo revezamento 4x100m livre do Brasil. Nesta prova que aconteceu no \u00faltimo dia do Trof\u00e9u, ela chegou a nadar em ritmo de \u00edndice, mas acabou cansando na reta final.
