Rec\u00e9m-inaugurado, o Hall da Fama da Nata\u00e7\u00e3o Australiana anunciou seus primeiros nomes eternizados na galeria de imortais da modalidade no pa\u00eds. Ao todo foram homenageados cinco nomes: Freddie Lane, Sarah “Fanny” Durack, Dawn Fraser, Shane Gould e Ian Thorpe. A cerimonia de gala aconteceu no \u00faltimo domingo durante o Swim Australia Awards em Sydney.<\/p>\n

Todos os cinco imortais tem uma hist\u00f3ria de gl\u00f3ria nas piscinas em diversos per\u00edodos da nata\u00e7\u00e3o no pa\u00eds. Freddie Lane foi o primeiro australiano campe\u00e3o ol\u00edmpico na nata\u00e7\u00e3o ao conquistar a medalha de ouro nos 200m livre nas \u00e1guas do Rio Sena nos Jogos de Paris-1900 com apenas 20 anos de idade. Pelo feito ele ganhou o apelido de “o garoto de ouro da Austr\u00e1lia”. Lane bateu v\u00e1rios recordes mundiais ao longo da carreira e faleceu em 1969 aos 89 anos.<\/p>\n

Sarah Durack, ou simplesmente, Fanny Durack entrou para a hist\u00f3ria por ter sido a primeira mulher campe\u00e3 ol\u00edmpica da hist\u00f3ria da nata\u00e7\u00e3o. Ela obteve este feito nos Jogos de Estocolmo-1912 na prova dos 100m livre, naquela que foi a primeira vez que as mulheres disputaram provas ol\u00edmpicas da modalidade. Ao longo da carreira ela ainda superou recordes mundiais em v\u00e1rias provas. Fanny morreu em 1956 aos 66 anos.<\/p>\n

Dawn Fraser \u00e9 sem d\u00favida uma das maiores nadadoras de todos os tempos, tendo conquistados feitos impressionantes. A australiana foi a primeira atleta, entre homens e mulheres, a conquistar um tricampeonato ol\u00edmpico na mesma prova. No caso os 100m livre, que venceu em Melbourne-1956, Roma-1960 e T\u00f3quio-1964. Ao todo foram oito medalhas ol\u00edmpicas, sete nos Jogos do Commonweatlh e 11 recordes mundiais batidos na prova nobre da nata\u00e7\u00e3o.<\/p>\n

Outro talento precoce da nata\u00e7\u00e3o australiana foi Shane Gould. Aos 15 anos de idade ela foi uma dos grandes nomes dos Jogos Ol\u00edmpicos de Munique, ao lado de Mark Spitz. A garota conquistou tr\u00eas medalhas de ouro nos 200m e 400m livre e 200m medley, uma prata nos 800m livre e um bronze nos 100m livre. Por\u00e9m, um ano depois aos 16 anos decidiu deixar a nata\u00e7\u00e3o como uma lenda das piscinas.<\/p>\n

Por fim, talvez o mais famoso de todos os homenageados: Ian Thorpe. O Thorpedo despontou para o mundo ainda na adolesc\u00eancia quando foi campe\u00e3o mundial aos 15 anos de idade. Conquistaria nove medalhas ol\u00edmpicas, 13 em Campeonatos Mundiais e 11 em Jogos do Commonwealth. Estabeleceu um recorde lend\u00e1rio nos 400m livre que s\u00f3 foi batido na \u00e9poca dos trajes tecnol\u00f3gicos por apenas um cent\u00e9simo pelo alem\u00e3o Paul Biedermann.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
