A cidade tamb\u00e9m vive e respira o esporte. Um dos maiores eventos internacionais da cidade \u00e9 a tradicional Travessia\u00a0de Guadalupano, que em 2015 ter\u00e1 sua 57\u00aa edi\u00e7\u00e3o. Esta prova \u00e9 a maior do calend\u00e1rio de \u00e1guas abertas do M\u00e9xico e vem sendo realizada ininterruptamente h\u00e1 quase 50 anos.<\/p>\n<p>O evento, bastante popular j\u00e1 que chegou a registrar 5 mil participantes em edi\u00e7\u00f5es passadas, ser\u00e1 disputado nas \u00e1guas da Ba\u00eda de Santa L\u00facia, banhada pelas \u00e1guas do Oceano Pac\u00edfico. Ao todo ser\u00e3o duas provas: uma curta de 1 km no dia 5 de dezembro, com partida na Praia Roqueta e chegada na Praia de Caleta; e a longa de 5 km no dia 6 de dezembro, com largada na Praia de Caleta e chegada na frente do Hotel Crown Plaza.<\/p>\n<p>Neste per\u00edodo do ano \u00e9 inverno no hemisf\u00e9rio norte, por\u00e9m Acapulco \u00e9 uma cidade extremamente tropical e o sol est\u00e1 presente por l\u00e1 durante praticamente todo o ano. Nesta \u00e9poca a temperatura ambiente oscila entre 26\u00b0C e 30\u00b0C e a temperatura da \u00e1gua em m\u00e9dia de 22\u00b0C. Atrav\u00e9s da imagem da santa, impressa no manto de S\u00e3o Juan Diego, diversos \u00edndios astecas se converteram ao cristianismo no s\u00e9culo 16. A Virgem Morena de Guadalupe \u00e9 a padroeira do M\u00e9xico e muito popular n\u00e3o s\u00f3 no pa\u00eds, j\u00e1 que atrai anualmente peregrinos e turistas cat\u00f3licos de todo o mundo.<\/p>\n<p>A primeira edi\u00e7\u00e3o da travessia aconteceu no dia 12 de dezembro de 1959, quando 84 atletas partiram da Praia da Ilha de la Roqueta e nadaram exatos 4 km para homenagear a Virgem de Guadalupe.
