O portugu\u00eas Diogo Ribeiro encarou sua primeira semifinal da manh\u00e3 ficando em 13\u00ba lugar com 51s54. O americano Dare Rose passou para a final com o melhor tempo das semifinais ao nadar pata 50s53, a frente do franc\u00eas Maxime Grousset com 50s62 e do canadense Joshua Liendo com 50s75. Kos nadou para 1min54s74 e conseguiu aguentar os ataques de Murphy que terminou com a prata ao marcar 1min54s83. O bronze ficou com o su\u00ed\u00e7o Roman Mitykov com 1min55s34.
