A edi\u00e7\u00e3o de Singapura do Campeonato Mundial de Esportes Aqu\u00e1ticos ser\u00e1 inesquec\u00edvel para Florian Wellbrock. O nadador alem\u00e3o brilhou nas \u00e1guas da Praia de Sentosa e atingiu feitos incr\u00edveis que o colocaram no patamar de maior nadador de \u00e1guas abertas da hist\u00f3ria dos Mundiais da World Aquatics.<\/p>\n

Wellbrock teve uma campanha perfeita em Singapura: quatro quedas na \u00e1gua e quatro t\u00edtulos mundiais. Primeiro o tricampeonato nos 10 km, a principal dist\u00e2ncia das \u00e1guas abertas. Na sequ\u00eancia, faturou seu terceiro t\u00edtulo mundial nos 5 km. Depois venceu com autoridade a nova prova da modalidade, o knockout sprint de 3 km. E no \u00faltimo s\u00e1bado veio a cereja do bolo com o triunfo do time alem\u00e3o no revezamento 4x1500m.<\/p>\n

Com essa campanha espetacular, o alem\u00e3o registrou o melhor desempenho individual da hist\u00f3ria em um Mundial de Esportes Aqu\u00e1ticos. Nunca um atleta havia conquistado quatro vit\u00f3rias na mesma edi\u00e7\u00e3o da competi\u00e7\u00e3o. Antes de Wellbrock chegar a este n\u00famero, o recorde era de somente duas medalhas de ouro num mesmo Mundial. E ele repartia esse feito com outros dez nadadores, entre eles a brasileira Ana Marcela Cunha (veja a rela\u00e7\u00e3o completa ao fim do texto).<\/p>\n

Outro recorde hist\u00f3rico superado por Wellbrock em Singapura foi o de n\u00famero total de medalhas de ouro em Mundiais. Com as quatro douradas obtidas na semana passada, ele chegou a oito ouros na competi\u00e7\u00e3o, superando em uma medalha seu compatriota Thomas Lurz que ganhou sete provas entre Montreal-2005 e Barcelona-2013. Ele tamb\u00e9m o maioral entre homens e mulheres, j\u00e1 que Ana Marcela Cunha \u00e9 a maior vencedora entre as mulheres com sete medalhas de ouro.<\/p>\n

Por fim, Wellbrock igualou o recorde de maior medalhista em uma s\u00f3 edi\u00e7\u00e3o do Mundial, contando todas as posi\u00e7\u00f5es no p\u00f3dio. Seu compatriota Thomas Lurz j\u00e1 havia obtido quatro p\u00f3dios em Barcelona-2013, sendo dois ouros, uma prata e um bronze.<\/p>\n
