O filme Vindication Swim, que conta a hist\u00f3ria da nadadora Mercedes Gleitze e sua ic\u00f4nica travessia no Canal da Mancha, foi lan\u00e7ado no dia 8 de mar\u00e7o de 2024 no Reino Unido, justamente, no Dia Internacional da Mulher. O longa metragem foi multipremiado internacionalmente em v\u00e1rios festivais, al\u00e9m de ter sido exibido em dezenas de pa\u00edses.<\/p>\n

A obra dirigida por Elliott Hasler, j\u00e1 recebeu 26 pr\u00eamios e soma mais de 15 indica\u00e7\u00f5es em diversos festivais de cinema internacional. Entre algumas premia\u00e7\u00f5es, destacam-se cinco vit\u00f3rias conquistadas no World Indie Film Awards em 2024, um festival internacional dedicado a apoiar cineastas, roteiristas e artistas independentes de todo o mundo.<\/p>\n

Vindication Swim tamb\u00e9m foi premiado em v\u00e1rios festivais de cinema como o New York International Film Awards e o Austin International Art Festival (Estados Unidos), Athens International Monthly Art Film Festival (Gr\u00e9cia), FilmHaus: Berlin Film + New Media Competition (Alemanha), Faro International Film Festival (Portugal), entre outros.<\/p>\n

O filme tamb\u00e9m foi premiado no Brazil International Monthly independent Film Festival, festival brasileiro de cinema competitivo e focado na ind\u00fastria independente. O longa levou seis pr\u00eamios na edi\u00e7\u00e3o de 2024 nas categorias de melhor atriz, melhor atriz coadjuvante, melhor ator coadjuvante, melhor fotografia, melhor edi\u00e7\u00e3o de som e melhor roteiro.<\/p>\n

Em maio de 2024, o longa foi exibido durante o tradicional Festival de Cannes, ganhando visibilidade internacional junto \u00e0 ind\u00fastria do cinema. A exibi\u00e7\u00e3o de filmes em Cannes \u00e9 voltado \u00e0 ind\u00fastria cinematogr\u00e1fica, onde produtores, distribuidores e compradores do mundo inteiro negociam filmes. Vindication Swim foi apontado como um dos principais t\u00edtulos brit\u00e2nicos em destaque durante o evento.<\/p>\n

Vindication Swim retrata a hist\u00f3ria de Mercedes Gleitze, que em 1927 se tornou a primeira mulher brit\u00e2nica a atravessar o Canal da Mancha a nado. O filme mostra a luta de Gleitze para completar a travessia e o machismo existente no Reino Unido na d\u00e9cada de 1920. O filme tamb\u00e9m explora um drama pessoal na vida da nadadora, quando uma outra mulher a acusou de fraude alegando ter realizado o mesmo feito antes de Mercedes.<\/p>\n
