O Campeonato Pan-Pac\u00edfico J\u00fanior, que aconteceu na semana passada em Vancouver, no Canad\u00e1, apresentou uma nova estrela em ascens\u00e3o ao mundo: o jovem Luja Mijatovic, de apenas 17 anos de idade e que foi o maior vencedor da competi\u00e7\u00e3o com sete medalhas de ouro, quatro recordes de campeonato individuais superados e dominante no nado livre.<\/p>\n

O jovem Mijatovic sobrou na competi\u00e7\u00e3o internacional vencendo os 100m (49s53), 200m (1min46s04), 400m (3min43s67), 800m (7min44s52), 1500m livre (14min57s45), revezamento 4x100m livre (3min18s45) e revezamento 4x200m livre (7min13s22). Mijatovic superou recordes na maioria das provas, com exce\u00e7\u00e3o dos 100m livre e dos revezamentos.<\/p>\n

Esta n\u00e3o foi a primeira grande exibi\u00e7\u00e3o do jovem neste ver\u00e3o do hemisf\u00e9rio norte. Mijatovic tamb\u00e9m j\u00e1 havia tido uma grande campanha no Campeonato Americano de Nata\u00e7\u00e3o disputado em Irvine, no m\u00eas de julho. No evento ele venceu os 400m livre, seu primeiro t\u00edtulo nacional americano, com 3min43s45, quinto melhor tempo da hist\u00f3ria da nata\u00e7\u00e3o americana. Ele ainda foi bronze nos 800m livre com 7min46s57.<\/p>\n

Com descend\u00eancia s\u00e9rvia, Mijatovic \u00e9 atleta do Pleasanton Seahawks, da Calif\u00f3rnia, e j\u00e1 est\u00e1 acertado para ingressar na Universidade do Texas no pr\u00f3ximo ano.
